The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) represents one of the major operating components of the Department of Health and Human Services. As such, the CDC covers many issues, including environmental health and injury prevention, health information and services, health promotion, infectious diseases, global health, occupational safety and health and an office for terrorism preparedness and emergency response.
